Van Gogh, Starry Night / Dreamed Japan
from March 1, 2019 to January 5, 2020
In 2019, Les Carrières de Lumières (Beaux de Provence), honours the works of Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) who painted over 2000 paintings during the last 10 years of his life. On the 7000 m² of the Carrières, this new visual and sound creation, produced by Culturespaces and directed by Gianfranco Iannuzzi, Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi with the musical collaboration of Luca Longobardi, traces the intense life of the artist fascinated by the warm and colourful colours of Provence.
this immersive show in van Gogh's work is followed by the short "Japan Dreamed" a journey into Japan of the common imagination, that of geishas, samurai and spirits, which finds its source in the Japanese prints that began to circulate in Europe in the second half of the 19th century, on the occasion of the opening of trade exchanges between the West and Japan.
